Guaranteach's story starts in 2008, with two former teachers and entrepreneurs, Alasdair Trotter and George Tattersfield, setting out to solve a problem: Many people need math help outside the classroom, but few are able to get it. |

Looking at the landscape of available math solutions, they could see why this problem exists: Teachers are overwhelmed. Private tutors and learning centers are expensive and inconvenient. And online resources are time consuming to navigate, don't have quality control and often just regurgitate textbook explanations. |

It didn't take them long to decide they could draw on their education and technology backgrounds to build a better way. By engaging the best teachers they could find to record themselves teaching they could create a library of online video lessons that covered every math topic from counting to calculus. Sure, they'd have to charge for it to cover the expenses of hosting the videos and paying reviewers, but the costs would be only a small fraction of what private tutors would cost. And, because they would have videos from a variety of teachers, they could create a site that would teach math concepts in a variety of different styles, so that if one particular lesson didn't "click" with a student, she could find another lesson on the same topic that did. |

And so Guaranteach was born. |

Since our start in 2008, George, Alasdair and over 120 additional contributors have grown Guaranteach into one of the Internet's best resources for teaching and learning math. With over 20,000 teacher-reviewed lessons we now cover every topic in K-12 math with multiple videos that teach each concept in a variety of different ways. And we've added some extra features too, like an assessment quiz that profiles a user's learning style and recommends videos to match it, quizzes that let students practice the math they learn, and reports that track progress. |

| How Guaranteach Works |
| The Guaranteach Online Tutor teaches math concepts using very short video lessons. We have thousands of these lessons, so if you want to learn about a topic in math we probably have many lessons that can teach it to you. The key fact about our videos is that they are recorded by dozens of different tutors, who vary widely in their methods and teaching styles. This means that we can give you the chance to learn from several perspectives, picking what you like best from several of our lessons. We think that's a lot better than trying to learn from just one teacher, who may not have time to explain things your way, and who may not even understand how you like to study. |
| Each video in our library is only 2-3 minutes long: we've taken math lessons and condensed them into these very short "bite-size" chunks so you can quickly absorb the main point of the lesson without getting distracted. We're sure this will increase your learning efficiency and may actually reduce the time you spend studying. With the Guaranteach Online Tutor, you are getting access to many tutors, who have many great ways to teach their subjects. After you have watched 4 or 5 explanations, you'll have learned more than you ever will from just staring at a textbook - we guarantee it! |

| Guaranteach goes beyond the traditional concept of a curriculum by offering lessons that can be included in any teaching syllabus (and we are delighted to add further lessons upon request!). Currently, we have over 20,000 lessons covering 600 topics within K-12 Mathematics. Every video in the Guaranteach library has been developed, screened and approved by professional teachers to make sure that the explanations are accurate and that there are lessons for the specific learning styles of practically any student. | Customized Learning |
| Our innovative service presents parents and teachers with a computer-based teaching model that offers instruction to suit each student's preferred learning style. Our proprietary algorithms constantly analyze each student who uses Guaranteach in order to create a learning profile for that individual. This learning profile helps Guaranteach understand not just what the student knows, but the way in which the student likes to learn. Guaranteach then uses this knowledge to customize the delivery of videos (by way of recommendations) to each student, always attempting to provide each student with the right video and tutor for them, to ensure both a quick and a successful learning outcome. |
| As an example, if a student prefers slow-paced tutors who introduce concepts with plenty of pictures and interesting verbal descriptions, Guaranteach will identify appropriate videos and tutors in response. Conversely, if another student enjoys complex, fast paced or rigorous mathematical explanations focused on teaching through the use of examples, then Guaranteach will adapt to provide suitable lessons to match that need. |
| We believe that several of the deficiencies in current education arise not from any inadequacy of the students, but from a failure to present students with material that they can easily understand.
